Try It: PRO Compression Socks Review + Giveaway!

Something you may have noticed in my race pictures (when I get around to taking them!) is that I almost always wear compression socks. It doesn't matter how short or long the distance - I consider the socks a must. Beyond racing, I often wear compression socks during and after hard workouts and long runs.

One of my favorite brands is PRO Compression. The brand's Marathon Sock is my favorite and the perfect blend of style and function.

Thanks to PRO Compression for sending me these socks! They are awesome!

So at this point, you're probably wondering why you should give compression socks a try. To sum it up, these socks help improve blood flow in your lower legs and feet. Think of it this way - the better your muscles are supplied with blood and oxygen, the better they'll perform. They also help increase stability and provide a nice little hug for your feet and calves!

Racing with the help of PRO Compression socks!

Compression socks are great for runners, of course, but they can also benefit other types of athletes - triathletes, cyclists and even golfers. Walkers, hikers or those who just spend a lot of time on their feet can also benefit from wearing these socks.

Keep it tight!

A question I'm often asked is do the socks stay up during running? My PRO Compression socks always stay up, unlike some other brands I've used in the past. They are also super durable. Case in point - earlier this spring I took a nasty fall on the pavement during a run. While my legs and gloves were all torn up from the spill, my socks survived without a single snag or tear and my calves were spared unlike the rest of my legs!

PRO Compression socks come in a variety of fun colors and prints. If a tall sock isn't your thing, the brand also carries calf sleeves and low-cut socks

So here's the part that I know you've all been waiting for - one lucky reader is going to win a pair of PRO compression socks! Here's how to enter the giveaway:

  • Leave a comment below telling me your experience with compression socks, why you want to try compression socks OR what color Marathon Sock you like best.

To earn up to two additional entries in the giveaway:

I'll pick a winner using a random number generator on June 5. The winner will have 48 hours to contact me to claim his/her prize.

Note: The prize socks are not pictured in this post.

Good luck everyone!

  6. I have never used compression socks, and I would really like to try them. I always try to save money, and not get the 'extras.' After I get new tools, I always wonder why I waited so long.

  8. I've never tried these but would love to. My legs fall asleep too easily and these sound like they'd help. The only sporty type socks I have are under armour so it'd be nice to try something else. I love tall socks too but the only sport ones I could find are too tight and my calf isn't that big. My fav color is blue but I love all colors.

    1. I'm guessing PRO Compression will be the right amount of compression. Definitely don't buy ones that feel loose - I've done that with other brands and they end up falling down midrun.

  9. I have never tried compression socks, but I have asked many people about them. Some people swear by them and others say they won't wear them. I'm curious to try them for myself. I also am prone to injury and wonder if wearing compression socks would change that. My favorite colors are bright colors (green, yellow, pink). Thanks for your review!

  13. I've recently started wearing PRO Compression socks on long runs and longer-distance races, and love them. They fit great, look spiffy (love the bright colors!), and do help keep my legs from feeling tight after they've been working so hard. I currently have bright pink and purple, and would love to add to the compression sock rainbow :)

  39. I love ProCompression! I have the marathon pink socks, and black calf sleeves, and have been wanting to try out the short socks for awhile.

  40. I had curious about compression socks. I am seriously considering my first half next year...and maybe the socks would help! And purple?! Heck yes!!

By the way, since you are in my "area" do you have a nice (flat) half you would recommend? I don't want my first half to be a spirit killer with too many hills....I am not ready to take that on!!

    2. I did not do the Brewers Mini last year, but I hear that is a great race. One of my favorites is Lake Country but it does have a few rolling hills throughout.

    3. I live in MKE and would definitely recommend the Wisconsin Marathon Half in Kenosha in early May. It's flat, fast, scenic, and I felt like there were people everywhere along the route. I also really liked the Madison Mini (though I think there were some rolling hills). The Cellcom Green Bay Half is also pretty flat and a very well organized race!

  44. I wore compression socks for the first time at the South Shore Half, because so many people had told me about them. They were awesome, I felt like my legs were "held together" if that makes sense...like they were very supported and less fatigued. And I took 5 minutes off my time!
And I like pink socks, bright and empowering.
